We need your input!

Would you like to help decide what new educational presentations come to the Senior Center?

Come join a fun group and help decide what the rest of 2019 will bring. Our committee meets just once a month (2nd Monday at 10AM for one hour) and we need your input.

Our focus is on enhancing the quality of life of older adults in Verona through education, while partnering with local law enforcement, senior service providers and most importantly… SENIORS!

Not sure?  Contact me and plan to come to just one meeting to check it out.

We would love to have you!

What has 4 letters, sometimes has 9 letters

and never has 5 letters…

Unless you’ve been there, it is difficult to put yourself into a caregiver’s shoes.  Caring for someone can be very rewarding, but it can also be lonely & physically/mentally draining. Often caregivers won’t ask for help, even if they desperately need it. They might even tell you “everything is fine” to hide the fact that they haven’t had a real night’s sleep in over a year. Often what a caregiver needs most is respite — a little time to relax in another environment. If you can help, rather than just saying, “I am here for you, call me anytime,” because 9 times out of 10 they won’t call, instead, suggest to them a day and time that you will be over so they can get out for a while. Insist on it! 40-70% of caregivers live with depression, anxiety or anger. 70% of all caregivers over the age of 70 will die before whom they care for does.

~ That sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent that one guy from cutting in line.

~ How many times is it ok to say “what?” before you nod, smile and pretend like you heard?

~ Who opened that first oyster and said “my, that looks yummy!”
