March 2020 – Hello from the Director

March 2020 – Hello from the Director

Spring is almost here and the Senior Center is buzzing with activity.  I am excited to say we have a number of new activities coming up in the next couple months.

Here are a few of my favorites coming in March!

Sugar Scrub DIY event  Friday, March 13 at 3:00 PM

Join me for a creative afternoon workshop. We will be making sugar body scrubs with essential oils.

Smoothie Workshop with Alasa – Monday,  March 23 at 10:00 AM (details on page 4)

Sundaes with Staff – Wednesday,  March 25 at 1:30 PM

Come meet the whole VSC team!  We’ll talk about our roles at the Senior Center while enjoying sweet treats.

These ideas are thanks to your suggestions…keep them coming!

Friendly Reminders:

Þ All the activities that take place at the Senior Center are open to all individuals. Please be mindful, kind and inclusive when you are here.

Þ Please Do Not put the following in the shred box: paper bags, plastic bags, empty envelopes, rubber bands, calendars/magazines and junk mail. The shred box is for confidential information such as          investment papers with Social Security information.

Þ The Senior Center hours are M-F 8:30 am – 4:30 am & Thursdays 8:30 am – 7:00 pm. We unfortunately cannot open before 8:30 am (even if it’s cold) and need to lock the doors at the appropriate times.  We appreciate your cooperation!

As we continue to add more programs to our busy calendar, we will be moving some programs to different rooms.  We appreciate your flexibility and willingness to try something new.  You may have noticed that the classroom was painted in January.  We hope to utilize this room for a wide variety of programs this spring.  Keep an eye out for more changes! In addition to room changes, we will be adding more recycle bins around the Senior Center.  Please help us reduce our carbon footprint by using these bins for plastic, paper etc. In addition, in April we will have some “GREEN” educational programs in honor of Earth Day.

Coming soon:

I am also excited to share that we will be partnering with the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin and offering FREE Comprehensive Medication Reviews in April.  Registered Pharmacists will be at the Senior Center to offer one-on-one appointments to discuss medication usage.  Stay tuned for more information.

Save the Date:  Volunteer Appreciation event  – Monday, April 6 at 11:30 AM

Join us for an entertaining presentation from Skip Jones entitled “How to Be a Hero.” A special lunch will be provided.  Stay tuned for more information.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback. We look forward to seeing you at the Senior Center.
