MAY 2020 – Hello From the Director

MAY 2020 – Hello From the Director

Spring has sprung and we are certainly ready!!

For the last month, the VSC staff have been working remotely and boy is it different! The hardest part is not seeing all of you, our wonderful members. We have moved out of our comfort zones and continue to learn about things like social/physical distancing, Zoom/Facetime, homeschooling, and more. Our staff team is doing a fantastic job making endless phone calls, sending numerous emails, and even creating a YouTube channel.

Each day brings challenges but also many opportunities. As a population we are forced to slow down and really think about what is important in life. Perhaps you’ve had an opportunity improve your self-care or have learned a new skill. Maybe you have called an old friend or have been enjoying the sights and sounds of the outdoors. Each day is a gift and I hope you take some time to enjoy the slower pace.

Special Thanks

Throughout the last couple months VSC has received much support from community businesses. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Badger Prairie Needs Network, Epic, TNT Catering, Transit Solutions, Festival Foods, Miller’s, Fifth Quarter, Hollander, Draft House, and Dane County Consolidated Foods. Please keep local businesses in mind during this difficult time. If you are experiencing food insecurity, please call 608-845-7471.

Building Updates

Although we are closed to the public, there is a lot happening at VSC. The heating and cooling systems are being updated in preparation for summer. The carpets are being cleaned and the Trailside Exercise room painted. As the weather continues to warm up, outdoor maintenance will be done. We look forward to showing you the updates soon.

From the “Suggestion Box”

My heartfelt thanks for all the comments and questions placed in the VSC Suggestion Box. Recent items and my responses in green follow. Keep your comments and questions coming.

Have a Sing-a-long—We will look for a time to try this again. If you are interested in leading an ongoing group, please let Alasa know.

Have a check-in on Schedules Plus that says “meet with staff.” – When someone meets with staff such as Case Management this information is documented, and data captured already.

Could we have a beginning Bridge and/or other card games? – We would love this, but we would need a volunteer to start and run the group(s). If you are interested in leading this, please contact Alasa.

We look forward to seeing you soon! Until then, stay well and healthy.
