17 Aug September 2019 – Shots, Vaccines & Boosters
September 2019 begins the preparation for Fall and Winter. This includes updating
immunizations and boosters for certain infections. Vaccines and boosters are very important
for our senior population and good health. Some important vaccinations for adults to be
aware of are as follows:
Pneumococcal (Pneumonia); Shingles; Hepatitis A&B; Tetanus/Diphtheria (TD) and Influenza
The flu shot is scheduled to be given at the Verona Senior Center on October 3,
2019 from 9 to 12. There are not many reasons to avoid receiving the flu vaccine, but if
you have any concerns, contact your care provider before getting the vaccine.
September 12 at 10:30 we will resume our Healthy Lifestyles program. September
22-28, 2019 is known as Active Aging Week. We will present different topics over the next
few months that encourage adults over 50 to take advantage of all life has to offer. We will
begin with Good and Bad Foods.
September 19 at 10:00 Parkinson’s Group will meet. We will be focusing on a beneficial
diet for individuals with Parkinson’s.
A thought to remember: “Grandma” Moses, one of America’s best known folk artists, began
painting while in her seventies!
